Child Care Workforce Data System (WORKS)

The Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) oversees the early care and education system that serves over 250,000 children in more than 8,600 licensed child care facilities and supports more than 40,000 members of the child care workforce.

The early childhood Workforce Online Reporting and Knowledge System (WORKS) replaced the current DCDEE workforce legacy systems; and serves as a public online portal for early education facility staff to create profiles, view information around their own roles, improve data collection, and provide the ability to link to the NC Early Childhood Data System (NC ECIDS). Features of the new system will support the following:

  • Automate, streamline, and expedite current processes
  • Improve data integrity
  • Consolidate and standardize data collection and storage
  • Allow for future expansion of additional modules
  • Improved communication and overall enhanced interaction with important work of the Division.

This Activity was completed December 2016.
